The EDIFY team were proud to present at this year’s Eating Disorders Research Society (EDRS) meeting in Newport Beach, California. Carina delivered a talk as part of an invited symposium on Machine Learning for Treatment Selection in Eating Disorders, alongside senior international researchers. Her talk shared early findings from the STORY study linking daily wearable data from the Ōura ring with fortnightly symptom questionnaires. She explored how subtle changes in sleep, activity and body signals (like heart rate) might signal when someone’s symptoms are about to get better or worse. The analysis compared group-level and individual-level machine learning models, offering a glimpse into how wearable data could one day help deliver timely, personalised support in real life. After months of cleaning thousands of data points and rehearsing the talk countless times, the effort paid off - it was warmly received!
Callum presented a beautiful poster on the many trials and triumphs of setting up the STORY study, which sparked lots of interest and conversations about real-world digital research. Look forward to a forthcoming paper on the topic!
