[CALL CLOSED] Are you passionate about leading real change in eating disorder awareness, policy, and practice?

If your answer is ‘YES,’ you may be the right person for us.

EDIFY is a four-year programme dedicated to achieving a step-change in our understanding of eating disorders. Young people with lived experience of eating disorders are at the heart of this project, and we aim to prioritise their perspectives, listen to their voices, and ensure our research aligns with their needs. After running successfully for three years, EDIFY is now entering its final phase, and we are looking to expand our group of Youth Advisors. This is why we need your help!

If you are:

  • Aged between 16-25, with lived experience of any eating disorder
  • Someone who considers themselves from an underrepresented background in eating disorder research (e.g., those with higher BMI, not in education, or living rurally)
  • Passionate about leading real change in eating disorder awareness, policy, and practice
  • Living in the UK

We want you on the EDIFY Youth Advisory Board for the final year of the programme!

What does this role involve?
We are looking to recruit 5 youth advisors to work across the programme. Here are some possible ways you could get involved:

  • Working alongside some of the existing Youth Advisors
  • Contributing to an animated film on a topic relevant to EDIFY
  • Joining focus groups for the early intervention call to action
  • Taking part in or shaping EDIFY art events
  • Attending Adolescence, Mental Health, and the Developing Mind Early Career Researchers events
  • Participating in the EDIFY Final Conference, planned for January 2026

To ensure you get the most out of this role, we are looking for young people who can commit to being involved in the project until 28th February 2026.

What’s in it for you?
You will be paid for your time at a rate of £12.50 per hour. We will also cover reasonable expenses, such as travel to meetings.

In addition to being paid, being an EDIFY Youth Advisor will give you the opportunity to:

  • Be part of a community of like-minded young people
  • Develop transferable skills, e.g., project management and presentation skills
  • Learn more about clinical research
  • Steer research priorities to help people with eating disorders
  • Contribute to academic papers as a co-author
  • Obtain references for future colleges, universities, or employers

If you are interested in learning more about this role or would like to apply, please contact EDIFYresearch@kcl.ac.uk to submit an application form by 20th February.
